About the Event

Alex More writes:

We warmly invite you to join us for a collection of inspiring TED talks given by a host of amazing speakers from around the world. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. A TEDx Talk is a showcase for speakers presenting innovative, well-formed and challenging ideas in under 18 minutes.

Our event is themed around the concept of 'Louder than Words'. Divided into four chapters; each tells a compelling story which informs and inspires and shines a light upon the key issues we are living through in this increasingly globalised world. 16 speakers will take the stage to share ideas around climate change, social injustice, digital innovation, and well-being. Our line-up comprises of school students and adults, with some speakers travelling from as far afield as; the USA, Canada, India, and Switzerland to share their stories, ideas and passion. We are proud that three of our own students, Gwen, James and Mya are talking at the event.

As well as 3 youth speakers from Shaftesbury School there are 4 from Gryphon , then two massive youth speakers; Sarah Syed and Fatimah Hussain. Check her website out:

This prestigious event is taking place at Shaftesbury Arts Centre which is also handling ticket sales: £3 per chapter. Full details of speakers and topics for the separate chapters, each one and a half hours, are on their website.
