About the Event

 The Food Conversation is a much-needed opportunity for citizens to talk about what they really want from food. It is taking place nationwide and is supported by the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission. Shaftesbury's food conversation is hosted by Planet Shaftesbury and provides an opportunity for local people to add a local perspective to the national picture.


Food is at the centre of some of the biggest challenges we face. Headlines about food security, diet-related ill health, the impact on nature and climate of food production, food bank usage (and more) dominate the media and are part of our daily discourse. Yet, governments have struggled to grasp the nettle on food system policies. Attempts to change anything about the way food works have floundered as policymakers have disagreed about what people want from food.
